Parking in Geneva: A Complete Guide
Blue zones, car parks, electric vehicle free parking, and parking rules in Geneva city centre and near the airport.
Parking in Geneva City Centre
Geneva city centre has several major car parks, mostly underground. The most convenient are Parking de Rive, Parking des Cropettes, Parking du Mont-Blanc, and Parking Cornavin (next to the train station). Prices range from CHF 2.50-4.00 per hour. Daily rates (after the first 2 hours) are typically CHF 20-35.
Blue Zone Parking
Blue zones (marked with blue lines) allow free parking with a parking disc for 1.5 hours. You must display a parking disc showing your arrival time. These are available free from police stations, post offices, and some newsagents. Blue zone rules apply Monday to Saturday during business hours.
Free Parking for Electric Vehicles
Electric vehicles (EVs) can park for free in all cantonal car parks in Geneva and in most blue zones. There is no time limit for EVs in blue zones. This is a major advantage of renting an electric car in Geneva - it can save CHF 30-60 per day in parking costs alone.
Parking Near Geneva Airport
The airport has several car parks at different price levels. P1 and P2 are closest to the terminal (most expensive, around CHF 5/hour). P3-P6 are further away with shuttle buses (cheaper). There is also a long-stay car park. The cheapest option is the Meyrin parking area with a free shuttle to the airport.
